Linking a Lead to a Xero Contact

Link a lead to a Xero contact to sync invoices and payments seamlessly

ℹ️ To create and send an invoice to a client, the lead must be linked to a Xero contact. If you haven't linked a Xero contact, a red missing contact label appears in the contact details.

You can connect a lead contact to Xero either directly from the Contacts tab or within a sales lead. Navigate to Contacts > Client and select the relevant client. If you’re working from a lead, go to Leads, open the relevant lead, and select Details. Scroll to the bottom of the page and, under Contact Details, click the three dots next to the saved contact, then select View Contact to open their profile.

Within the client’s contact details, locate the Xero Contact field. Use the dropdown menu to select an existing Xero contact, or click if the contact does not yet exist in Xero.

💡 Before creating a new contact, always search first to avoid duplicating records in Xero.
