How to Create a Daily Log

Record the day’s notes, photos and files against a job from the web app or mobile app, and choose who can see each entry.

Overview

Daily Logs sit under Project Management on each job, and you can create them from the web app or the JACK mobile app. Each entry records the day’s notes, photos and files against the job, and you choose whether Clients, Suppliers or Contractors can see it. Creating logs from site keeps a dated record of progress that your whole team can refer back to.

Daily Logs in the Web App

Navigate to Jobs > select the job > Project Management > Daily Logs, and click  in the top-right corner to open the Add Daily Log panel.

The Date field defaults to today’s date, which you can change if you’re logging a previous day. Enter the day’s notes in the Notes field, such as weather, progress or anything worth recording on the job. The formatting toolbar above the field lets you add headings, bold text and lists.

Under Visibility, tick Clients, Suppliers and/or Contractors to share the entry with them. Leave these unticked to keep the entry internal to your team.

⚠️ The New Daily Log Entry email is only sent when the entry is first saved. If you tick a Visibility option after the entry has been created, no notification is sent.

Click  under Pictures to add photos, and drag files into the Attachments area or click Browse to upload them. Each file can be up to 20MB. Click  to create the entry, which then appears in the job’s Daily Logs list.

Daily Logs in the Mobile App

In the JACK mobile app, tap Jobs, select the job, then tap Project Management > Daily Logs. Tap + Log Entry to start a new entry.

The Date field at the top defaults to today’s date. To log a different day, tap the date and select one from the calendar. Enter the day’s notes, then tick Clients, Suppliers and/or Contractors to share the entry with them. As with the web app, tick these before saving so the New Daily Log Entry email is sent.

To add files or photos, tap Upload File or Upload Photo to choose something already on your phone, or tap Take Photo to capture one on the spot. Tap Save to create the entry.
